Here’s why you need water sports travel insurance from Yellow Jersey.
Whether you’re catching waves in Bali, cruising the coast on a windsurfing board, or flying through the air on a kite, water sports like surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing require specialised insurance. Standard travel insurance often doesn’t include coverage for high-risk activities like surfing or kitesurfing. That’s where we come in with surfing travel insurance, windsurfing travel insurance, and kitesurfing travel insurance tailored to the unique risks of your sport.
At Yellow Jersey, we provide comprehensive travel insurance for surfing and other water sports, ensuring you’re covered for the things that matter most — from equipment loss to emergency medical treatment, and everything in between.
Ask yourself two questions about your current travel insurance –
Have I checked if it covers me for risks associated with water sports?
e.g. public liability cover
Have I checked if it covers me if the primary purpose of travel is water sports?
e.g. a Bali surfing trip
Surfing, Windsurfing & Kitesurfing Travel Insurance – Protection for Every Wave
Surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing all come with risks that standard travel insurance often overlooks. Whether you’re heading for an exotic surf spot or riding the waves closer to home, you need insurance that works with your sport, not against it. That’s why we offer specialised kitesurfing travel insurance, windsurfing travel insurance, and surfing insurance to give you peace of mind as you take on the elements.
Our policies cover everything from basic risks to more extreme circumstances, ensuring your protection throughout your trip.
Most general travel insurance providers exclude surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing, especially in higher-risk environments. This means you could be left exposed to significant costs if you’re injured or your gear is lost or damaged.
Here’s how Yellow Jersey’s surfing travel insurance stands out:
Equipment Protection: Whether it’s your board, kite, or sail, we’ll cover the cost if your equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged.
Medical Expenses: If you’re injured while surfing, windsurfing, or kitesurfing, we’ll cover your medical expenses, including evacuation and repatriation if necessary.
Trip Cancellation: If you’re injured or delayed before your trip and can’t go, we’ll help recover your non-refundable deposits.
Personal Liability: Water sports can lead to accidents, and we provide personal liability coverage if you cause damage to property or injury to others.
Extreme Conditions: From kite surfing in strong winds to tackling bigger surf, we provide cover for extreme water sports and adverse weather conditions.
Global Protection: Whether you’re surfing in Hawaii, windsurfing in Spain, or kitesurfing in the Caribbean, our travel insurance covers you wherever you go.
Comprehensive Cover: Our policy covers injuries, lost equipment, delayed trips, and even potential cancellations, so you’re free to focus on the waves.
A Travel lots, pay less
By spreading the risk over 12 months, we can reduce the rates for you while still providing cover for every weekend trip or week-long golfing holiday you enjoy abroad.
Our annual policies can also include winter sports coverage, so purchasing annual travel insurance before your summer golf trip could save you the hassle of finding another insurer before your winter skiing trip.
B No commitment
For those who don’t travel so frequently or don’t want the commitment, we also offer short-term, single-trip policies. Whilst these are obviously more expensive pro-rata, they offer great flexibility and the same cover afforded to regular travellers.
With discounts available for Families and Couples, there is no need to purchase separate annual travel insurance if you’re not all going to be golfing. If you travel with your partner, we offer them a 50% discount.
For a family policy with two adults, your first child will be added for half the price, and any more will be added for free. The same discount is available for single-parent families where you pay for one adult.
If you are organising a trip with your cycling club, our group discount allows parties of 5 – 10 people to travel on one policy with a 5% discount.
Since active people rarely confine themselves to a single discipline, our annual policies also include free winter sports cover.
