As three brothers, we have been successfully running our family-owned insurance brokers for 15 years. As active members of the cycling and triathlon community we were frequently asked what the best way to insure bicycles was. We knew that cycle cover on home insurance wasn’t always sufficient, but we were never confident recommending any of the existing cycling-specific policies to friends who owned multiple bikes, trained and raced TTs, criteriums and triathlons, or who were looking to take their bikes abroad. We thought things could be better, so in 2014 we started Yellow Jersey.
Hi I’m Ryan Georgiades, co-founder of Yellow Jersey Cycle Insurance. When I first joined my local club, the Clapham Chasers, in 2009 I was 20 stone and heading for a heart attack. Cycling and triathlon truly change my life. Over the next six years I went on a journey which saw me lose six stone, get married to a club mate, have two children and become an Ironman. I’m currently training for nothing in particular and desperately trying not to get back to 20 stone.
I really hope you like what we are doing at Yellow Jersey, we are genuinely passionate about our sport and business.
Hi I am a ginger Greek, gluten free, cyclist. I’m a level two British Cycling coach, and until recently the chair of The Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome charity, which is a local venue extremly close to my heart.
I love being a member of Crystal Palace triathlon club and hope one day to be better than my two older brothers at both running and cycling!
I’m a self confessed handlebar tape snob with an unrelenting fetish for bikes made of steel, aluminium, carbon and titanium. I have a varied Palmares that includes epic Pyrenean Raids from Biarritz to Barcelona, road races, sportives, duathlons, track camps and challenging charity tours throughout Europe. My biggest achievement to date is the creation of ‘The Waller Pain’ urban hill climb – a unique event that sees national standard hill climbers, team and club riders go head to head with dads on mountain bikes, mums on shopping bikes and kids on balance bikes…This event truly smiles an all inclusive spirit throughout the cycling community.
The best thing I ever did was buy myself a bike back in 2011 and I’ve never looked back. I’ve dabbled in triathlon managing a few middle and standard distance GB Age Groups races and completed Ironman Zurich. My most recent cycling adventure was a 20,000km ride from London to Cape Town raising nearly 30k for World Bicycle Relief.
I look after our sales and marketing here at Yellow Jersey so please contact me with any questions you may have under this umbrella.
I wasn’t given the choice as to whether or not I wanted to get into cycling. My family bike shop (Leedham’s Leicester) was founded in the 1850’s, and to avoid bringing dishonour to my ancestors, took up the two wheels out of reluctant duty. That said I do head out for the odd spin and know rather a lot about bikes.
I take care of YJ’s digital marketing among other things. Ever noticed those ads that seem to follow you round the internet and all over Facebook? Yep, I’m that guy.
I’m a runner trying to be a cyclist who wishes he could swim. I deal with the claims process and customer service experience at Yellow Jersey and work hard to make these as great as they can be! It’s likely that you’ll speak to me first when you ring up.
When I’m not talking to our lovely customers, I’m running around after my 3 kids, cycling as much as I can and trying to swim without arm bands. This year my main fitness focus is running however I will be dabbling in some triathlon.
I am the new junior marketing executive here at Yellow Jersey and I look after our affiliate marketing and events programmes. I also run the social media so you may find yourself chatting to me on Twitter. After spending a year of my degree sampling cheese and pedalling leisurely around Alsace under the guise of cultural appreciation, I am keen to start ticking off my long bucket list of travel adventures – hopefully some of them on two wheels!
