Liverpool Tri: Backing a Winner

Yellow Jersey were back in Liverpool this weekend for our second Liverpool Triathlon.

With heavy rain throughout the day, the weather was nevertheless slightly better than last year’s event, and the crowd who had turned out to cheer on competitors from beginners race right up to the Elite level of competition were not put-off.

It was great to see so many Yellow Jersey customers competing over the weekend and always a pleasure to meet you at events like these, even if most of you come looking for us in search of our now infamous flapjacks.

The highlight of the weekend however, has to be our brand ambassador Sophie Coldwell’s victory in the Elite category, officially now a British Triathlon Champion.

With fantastic performances in both London and Hamburg in July, we had pegged Sophie as the one to watch out for and a future star of Triathlon, but it seems we were a little behind.

A fantastic Swim put Sophie 41 seconds ahead out of the water, and an equally impressive bike brought her lead over Emma Pallant, who finished in second place, to over a minute on the short sprint distance course. Despite losing a little time in the run, Sophie’s commanding lead after the second transition was enough to ensure her first win in a British Triathlon event as an Elite Senior.
