Sophie Coldwell has been competing in triathlon at a junior level for over ten years with great success in both team and individual events at a National, European and World level. 2015 sees Sophie’s progression into the under 23 category, and her first events as an Elite Senior Triathlete at an international level.

Sophie’s passion for, and success in the sport of Triathlon was enough to secure a place in the National Lottery funded British Triathlon Development Squad from 2012 to 2014. During this time she found a string of successes in a series of high profile events.

For 2015, Sophie Coldwell has progressed into the under 23s category, and under the stewardship of The University of Loughborough, been invited to compete in the ITU World Series.

The Vitality World Triathlon London formed the first of five ITU events on Sophie’s 2015 calendar, including Hamburg, Stockholm and Chicago. Particularly strong was her swim where she left the water in third position, and bike where she lead for a significant portion of the race.

On the 25th of July, Sophie became BTF champion when she won at the Liverpool Triathlon.

While training in the three separate disciplines occupies a significant portion of her time, Sophie is none the less able to fit in study for an undergraduate degree in Human Biology at the University of Loughborough. Living with other internationally competing athletes and the University provisioning the final year be split into two to increase flexibility, together with Loughborough University’s framework of elite level sports coaching, Sophie is in a fantastic position to peruse her career in Professional Triathlon. Her goals stand resolute on competing at the Commonwealth games, and Tokyo Olympics, but she identifies reaching this level of competition as a part of a long term plan.
